There is a quote by. Anaïs Nin that perfectly sums up the Merfolk – “I must be a mermaid. I have no fear of depths and a great fear of shallow living.” Merfolk tend to already know they’re merfolk, thanks to the saturation of them in our modern culture. They’re drawn to the sea, often feel like a fish out of water, love the truly beautiful things in the world, and have no qualms about dragging deserving jackasses to their watery graves.
Merfolk are the descendants of Nymph relationships with Humans, and may be mammals with fish-like, colorful Dolphin tails who stay in the sea, or amphibious scaled land-walkers with legs who prefer rivers and lakes. Sea-dwellers will have a medallion that allows them to walk on land in daylight hours.
